Day 209

Another scorcher here today in Fabulous Las Vegas. We went to lunch with my friend Carol and her son to Cafe Rio. If you have one near you, you've gotta try the coconut shrimp tacos. YUMMO! My POTD is of the slot machines in our Albertson grocery store. I had $5. left over and thought I'd give it a try. The picture isn't that great because I had to sneak it. They frown on pictur taking of the machines. Anyway, I won some $$. I will put it away for those new carts coming out.

Day 208

Well the worst news a runner could get just days before the big race. Dominic has to wear a aircast for 3-4 weeks. He has a stress fracture and the steriod shot did help the pinched nerve that was masking the fracture pain. We are in the process of trying to get a refund on our tickets. No use in spending money to go if he isn't racing. thanks for all the well wishes.

Day 207

Austin has wanted to go see G-Force since he saw the previews for it. We took him and Brandon to see it in 3D. Christopher and Dominic just knew it was going to be dumb. It was a cute "kids" movie. After we went to Sams to load up on some waters. In the parking lot was the BAD TO THE BONE Monster Bus. It was $5. to ride and the money went to a good cause. Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. So we took a ride around the parking lot. It was kind of cool :)

Day 206

We went to Dairy Queen tonight to celebrate Kirstin coming home after being gone all week. We were going to walk there, but it way to hot. the ice cream was melting inside the store. I love that its so close to us. But that can also be a bad thing.

Day 205

Mt. Charleston day! Each yr the cross country team drives up to Mt. Charleston to run the Bristlecomb trail. It is 7 miles. We had to be at the school at 5:45. We didn't get home until almost 10 am. It was so nice up there. The weather was around 54 degrees. I sat in the car while the kids did their run. I read and listen to woodpeckers pecking on the trees. I tried getting a picture of a bird that was sitting in the tree as it flew off, but looked away at the wrong time and missed it. :( Now its time for a nap.

Day 204

Well I wasn't happy with the Dr. that looked at Dominic's foot yesterday because he came home from practice with it really hurting. He's got Junior Olympics next week so this just isn't going to cut it. Robert got a hold of another Dr. that he knows and she got us in ASAP. She is amazing. It is his nerve, but she taped up his foot and gave him a steroid shot for the pain and inflammation. He is feeling like a new kid. Here he is getting his foot wrapped.

Day 203

The economy sucks! Today is a very sad day for us. The For Sale sign went up at Our favorite neighbors house. :( All of our houses were finished at the same time and we all moved in within days of each other. Now with the prospect of both of them not having a job, has made them make a tough decision to sell their house before they lose it. It will be an even sadder day when it sells.

Day 202

Added some stickles.

I am just about done with my last swap. Yippee. Its for the twilight swap on the Cricut MB.I used the YUDU. Here is one of the sides of the canvas bags I am making. Still need to add a little red stickles and they will be sent out Thurs. I also tried to get caught up on the Jessica Sprague digital class. I am really enjoying this class. I think I am going to sign up for more.

Day 201

We spent the day inside and in our pjs. Everyone is so burnt. This has become our favorite thing today. The boys keep coming in and asking if I would put more on their backs.

Day 200

It's day 200. I can't believe it. Only 165 days left of 2009. Today Dominic ran his first race the 1500 in 4:18 and came in 3rd to bring in the Bronze. He didn't race in the 800 as expected because he did something to his foot. So that left it open for us to go to the beach earlier than expected. It was so nice, but crowded. We hung out for about 3 hrs before heading back to Vegas. We all came home looking like lobsters. I always forget that when we go to the beach to bring 30+ spf.

Day 199

Today was supposed to be a kick back day at the beach, but NO. Coach calls us at 10:30 am and tells us he wants Dominic to run the 5k for a workout to get him ready for his 2 races tomorrow. That sucks. No beach. So we go get lunch and call coach thinking he will let him slide and work out at the beach. NOPE. We get to the track. Let me tell you. This High School is the most beautiful school I have ever seen. I would go back to high school just to go here. Dominic is running his 5000 and everytime he comes around he waves to us and smiles throws the thumbs up sign. He's really not taking this seriously. This is 12 1/2 laps around the track. Well when it gets down to the last lap we tell him if he kicks it into high gear he will come in 3rd and get a bronze medal. He does exactly that and gets the bronze. It was AMAZING. I just wish my flip was not full because that was the best I have ever seen him run.

Day 198

We are leaving the heat of Vegas and headed to cool and refreshing San Diego, California to my son Dominic's Cal-State track games. This is his prep race prior to going to the Junior Olympics in NC. Today's picture is how hot it was on the way from Vegas to San Diego. From 119 degrees to 80 degrees.

Day 197

I took Bandit to the groomers today. He was way over due. He really hates going. He was whining the whole way there. Once he got there he sure did make a mess, if you know what I mean. Anyway here is the before and after pic. The before isn't so good, but the after is with Brandon who got his hair cut yesterday.

HOME

Our friend Leticia is moving this weekend to California. Its not that far, but it won't be the same without her here. I made this for her to take to her new home, but im afraid to give it to her since she is one of the most amazing crafters I know. Please, if you would give me your honest opinions. I am going with her and a couple of other friends to take her to dinner tonight.

Dinner with Leticia, Carol and Mitzi was nice but sad. I think she liked the "HOME" I made. That was the first time I ever made anything like that. Now I need to make one for me. Although we haven't been friends for a long time, I am going to miss her a whole lot. Thanks Leticia for some great times and the really cute gift you gave each of us tonight.

Day 196

YEAH Harry Potter is out. We just got back from seeing the movie. It was pretty good. The boys who normally don't like this franchise as a movie, but love the books said this one was the best out of all the movies. So *8 thumbs up. LOL Today I also took the boys to the orthodontist for tightening of their braces. After that Brandon went for a hair cut. He wasn't so sure when he walked out how he felt about his hair being a lot shorter, but after the movie he said he liked it and might even want to go shorter. Wow!

Day 195

Me and boredom don't mix. Since its so hot and I have to get up at the crack of dawn to take the boys to X country and don't want to come home and go back to sleep, I've been shopping. This is what I have gotten since yesterday and I still want to hit up the 2 other Big Lots around my house. At least I am using my coupons and getting most of the stuff on clearance. Now to put it to good use.

Day 194

Another boring day here in Vegas. When its over 110* there's not much we want to do. I worked on my 365 album. I'm only on March. The boys just hung out playing on the computer and video games. Then Austin went to his 3 hr tae kwon do classes and Dominic is at track practice. Today's POTD is of my son Christopher's girlfriend Kirstin. I love her like my own. She is so cute. This is her watching him play his dumb game World of Warcraft.

Day 193

YEAH! I get the house to myself for a few hrs. lol Robert took the boys to go shooting out in the desert. This is what they looked like before they left. They are such nerds. No hiding from anything in these outfits. :)I will continue to work on my 365 album and layout for a bit. No movies today. Nothing worth seeing until next week when Harry Potter comes out.

Day 192

Happy Birthday to my Mom. We took her out to lunch to Chili's. Our favorite place to go. I'm surprised she did not pick Red Lobster her favorite place. Anyway, the guys are watching the big UFC fight with some neighbors. I guess I should be out there, but Im not interested in it. I think I will just hang out in my room and play with the cricut.

Day 191

Went to the movies with my friend Carol and we saw My Sisters Keeper. What a tear jerker. Bring lots of tissues to this one. After, I picked up the boys to take them to lunch. When we were done, we headed over to Walmart to pick up a few things for my mom's birthday which is tomorrow. The boys started goofing around, (must be lack of sleep) Dominic pushed Brandon around the whole store in the cart like this. They are so goofy. They got some pretty weird stares. :) Gotta love em!

Day 190

Really not much going on here. We have to watch our penny's right now since track is breaking the bank. We got up at 5 am. for X Country practice. Brandon did well for his first official day of running. The older kids have a tradition of calling the first Freshman who balls up on the ground and throws up the "FETUS" for the whole yr. No one wants that title. Thank God Brandon was still standing at the end of practice today. The boys had to get in their 3 hr nap. I worked on some swap stuff with Austin's help. After Brandon woke up he helped me sort my scraps into an accordian file folder. That will be a time saver. Then we sat outside and watched the clouds. I got a cool pic. Now its time to turn on Big Brother and get some sleep.

Day 189

Here I sit and boy does it feel good to sit down. I worked out on the treadmill for 90 min while watching Twilight. I really did try to get to the end of the movie, but my legs just couldn't take it anymore. So as I sit and wait for our book club chat I am finishing up my cards for a swap I am hosting for our project 365 gals.
This is what I have so far. Do you think I should add a saying or put something inside? I used MM noteworthy line papers and the Top note die from SU. not sure of the card stock and chocolate chip ink from SU.

Day 188

This is what happens to kids who go to bed late and get up at 6:00 am to get to their first cross country practice that starts at 7:00 but really started at 6:00. lol. We get to the track at 6:45 and see a bunch of back packs up against the wall but no kids. I tell them lets wait to see whats up. Well around 7:15 kids start running up the school parking lot. The coach appears and tells the boys that practice started at 6:00. Well guess what that means? I have to get up at 5:00 am 3 days a week. :( (I am not a morning person) They came home and did a 3 mile run and now are taking a nap in my bed while I watch the Michael Jackson memorial.

Day 187

I joined a Christmas front card swap and this is what I came up with. I used Peachy Keen stamps that I got in another swap, don't know the card stock co., and glossy accents to make it look like glass for the snowglobe.
Got a busy day today. Boys get physicals for cross county that starts tomorrow. Pick up contacts for Dominic, loads of laundry from this weekend. I hate towels. lol Pick up my stampin up order. And I know there is more, but i'm drawing a blank at the moment.
Oh yah I finished up The Time Travelers Wife for our book club. I can't wait to see the movie. I'd love to see how they are going to translate this book into a film.

Day 186

Today we went to see Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaur. It was a cute movie. Not as good as UP, but pretty good. We didn't see it in 3D because I am not willing to pay the price to see it. Kids will love it! Then we just kind of hung out by the pool. It's kind of a lazy day here. I think we are all tired from yesterday.

Day 185 HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!

I hope everyone has a Fun and Safe 4th of July. We are having our usual supspects over, but not until 4-5. Since its so hot we try to wait until later in the day to get things started. This isn't a great picture. It was taken with Dominic's Iphone of Robert putting up Uncle Sam. I will have more pics later.

Day 184

I looked at the clock and it said 9:05 and I freaked out. 3 of us had dental appoinments at 9:30. The boys were still asleep. I woke them up and made the boys take 2 min showers and we rushed to our appointments. Only late by 3 mins. I was supposed to get my teeth bleached at 1:00 so they said why not do it now so you don't have to come back. Well after they get started they tell me I can't have anything that could possible stain my teeth for the next 48 hrs, you would think they would tell you this before a holiday weekend. :( I guess I won't be enjoying all the wonderful foods we will have. The boys say its my payback for getting their braces put on 1 yr ago today. lol After we went straight to see Public Enemies. I will say its a good movie because my all time favorite actor was in it, Johnny Depp. It was kind of long and the filming had us shaking our heads to get our eyes to focus. I will watch just about anything He's in. We then spent about 3 hrs shopping for food for tomorrow and the rest of the week. Now its time for In and Out!

Day 183 Officially half way done!

I seriously can't believe I have stuck with this for 6 months. Today's POTD is courtesy of Kelly. She is one of the wonderful gals that has stuck with this project from day one. She had each of us send her a picture and she photo shopped us together. Thank you for doing that. I have made some really cool friends over the last 6 months and I want to thank each of them for keeping me motivated. Kelly, Aprile, Pam, Debbie, Missy, Mandy and Amy its been fun getting to know you and I look forward to the next 6 months. I wanted to add a couple of gals that are still doing it,but just don't post everyday like us. Denise, Candace :)

Day 182

OK so the other day I get this email from Brandon. It says I want to make this. I'm like what? Its a recipe for Baklava. He said, the one I had in NY was so good I want to try to make it. OK, we head to the store to pick up the ingredient. Let me tell you, it would have been cheaper to just go to a Greek restaurant and pick him up a piece. I want to say all together we spent well over $40+ on it. We all helped out, but for the most part it was Brandon and Austin. I do have to say it was pretty darn good. So the next cooking project is cinnamon rolls.
Ok something else we did today before baking the Baklava. We went to the Palms Hotel (where a lot of Celebrities hang out) to pick up Flogging Molly tickets(Irish Punk band). Christopher, Dominic, his friend Dan and Brandon are going in Sept. We thought ok lets eat at the buffet. It was nasty. Not much of a variety and for the price, not worth it. Here we thought it would be one of the better ones. So if you come to Vegas, skip the Palms buffet. Maybe they have better food up in the Playboy club ;)
